Discussion guides for series in the pursueGOD library use a simple, three-step process. Step 1 is designed to help your group discover the truth of the lesson quickly to get everyone on the same page before you begin your discussion. There are three ways to complete Step 1 as a group:

Method #1: Watch the video together

The simplest way to complete Step 1 is to watch the video together. This is a great method for new groups, especially if the lesson video is short and sweet.

Method #2: Have a leader summarize

This is great early on in the life of the group. The group leader or co-leader summarizes the talking points in less than 7 minutes, giving everyone a chance to take some notes and get ready for the discussion in Step 2.

Method #3: Have a group member summarize

This is the best way to get your group engaged. The group member summarizes the talking points in less than 7 minutes, following the example of the leader from the week before. Encourage the group member to share a few personal questions or observations if they’d like.

Try all three of the methods for completing Step 1 in your group, but try to make Method #3 the norm. And remember, the point is to get everyone on the same page and set up the conversation in Step 2 – where your group will spend the bulk of its time.

Matthew 28:18-19 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
