EVENT SUMMARY:

The Prayer Workshop is a 2-meeting event designed to teach people in your church how to develop a personal habit of prayer in their own lives. It’s great for entire small groups, families or individuals who want to learn this important spiritual discipline. This is not your typical prayer meeting for seasoned Christians who want to storm the gates of heaven. It’s for anyone, but especially for those who are intimidated or confused by the idea of personal prayer. It has three main emphases:

DAY 1 AGENDA:

  1. Welcome attenders and describe the purpose of the workshop. (5 minutes)
  2. Explain the P-R-A-Y model of prayer in your own words or watch the video (5 minutes).
  3. Prayer Q&A. Take questions or use the discussion questions from the video conversation. Emphasize things like using journaling, establishing a “prayer closet”, using worship music to create an environment, and other practical tips for establishing the habit of prayer. (20)
  4. Play an abbreviated version of the Songs for Prayer, encouraging others to pay attention to the four “markers” – the short videos that mark each of the 4 prayer elements. Encourage people to spread out in the room as they pray, and pass out the Prayer Journal as an additional tool. (30 minutes)
  5. Dismiss and challenge everyone to try it at home at least once before next week’s meeting.
