Back to God #3: I Can’t Do It on My Own

Series: Finding Your Way Back to God
It’s hard to ask for help, but only those who humble themselves will find their way back to God.

Nobody likes to ask for help, but everybody has different reasons. On one extreme is the self-sufficient person, too arrogant to admit their need. On the other extreme is the shamed person, full of self-doubt and too hesitant to speak up. These are actually two sides of the same root problem: self-centeredness. And when it comes to spiritual things, both extremes can cut a person off from pursuing God.

Talking Points:

  1. It’s hard to ask for help. Luke 19:8-13
  2. God is eager to help those who humble themselves. 1 Peter 5:5
  3. God’s help has a name. Matthew 1:23

Featured Text:

1 Peter 5:5 And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
