You would think that churches would be setting the standard for excellence. We’re not just selling goods and services, we’re introducing people to Jesus. We’re offering forgiveness, hope and new life. You would think that we would be compelled by that mission to always give our best effort.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus.”
Neither of these verses suggest that “good enough” is good enough.
We’re busy people. And the busier we are, the more tempted we are to say “good enough”. Often times in church we try to do too much. This stretches our time, energy resources and volunteers too thin. The solution? Less is more. Focus. Only do a few things… and do them well. For volunteers, we recommend only serving one area of ministry at a time. Don’t over-commit. Prioritize. Keep it simple.
